iPOP SXSW | Austin Pictures Are Worth a Thousand Words

As quickly as it begins, the Film Festival portion of SXSW (and the albatross that has become the Interactive event) gives way to Music. Still, the screenings continue, and the raucous premieres at Austin’s Paramount and the steady stream of filmmakers, aspiring actors and the famous are still around. “The Runaways” will screen tonight and “Get Low” had its fab Austin debut Wednesday night.

Individual editions of festivals are frequently digested after some time has passed, but it seems pretty evident this year’s SXSW Film Conference and Festival was quite a success with an increasing number of attendees and packed audiences (and even screenings with people shut out). As iW’s editor-in-chief noted in his recent mid-fest report, “It might be a stretch to say that South by Southwest is having growing pains, but such a statement is actually not that far from the truth. When all is said and done, 2010 will be remembered as a watershed for SXSW.”

Like all large film events, it’s impossible to attend everything, but iW caught some images from a cross-section of the film fest, including higher profile events and others that were more below the radar before their SXSW outing this past week.
