There’s whispers around the internets that Oscar producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic almost managed to really embarrass themselves on Oscar night: They approached “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling and “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer to present the best adapted screenplay category together. Thankfully, Rowling was unavailable because of scheduling conflicts and Meyer does not work on Sundays because she’s a big ol’ Mormon.
“The younger side of the audience has been drifting for years, so we’re more conscious of trying to build a youth element into the show,” Mechanic was quoted as saying in the LA Times article.
I think you already have that covered with TWO “Twilight” starts already presenting, Mr. Mechanic. J.K. Rowling I would have been fine with, but Stephenie Meyer should never, ever, present an Oscar… Or any award that doesn’t have “choice” in its title.
