Activism: Food justice and FRESH, the movie

If you’re a food activist you may be watching “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” on Friday night television, rooting for Jamie to curb obesity in Huntington, WV through wholesome eating.

You may have seen Food, Inc. and felt horrified by farming practices in this country.

Now comes Fresh, directed by Portuguese-born, ana Sofia joanes, to continue the conversation. It opens Friday at The Quad in New York. I recommend it highly. I learned a few things I didn’t know and enjoyed some inspirational stories. The blurb:

“FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and rampant obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet. (Running time 1:12)”
