Babelgum Online Short Fest Opens; Will Announce Winners at Tribeca Event

The online film platform Babelgum has announced the finalists for the 3rd Babelgum Online Film Festival. The short films are now available for screening online at their website or through their mobile apps. The juried awards will be decided by film industry members including: director/producer Jean-Pierre Bekolo (“Aristotle’s Plot”), producer Carlos Battilana (“The Blindness of the Woods), writer/director Richard Linklater (“Me and Orson Welles”), writer/director Sally Potter (“RAGE”), director/producer Annie Sundberg (“Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work”), Eric Watson, producer (“The Fountain”), and director/curator Jason Wishnow (“Oedipus”).

“We started BOFF with the intention of supporting and highlighting the work of globally based independent filmmakers, who have found it increasingly difficult to distribute top-quality films via traditional platforms,” commented Karol Martesko-Fenster, the General Manager of Babelgum’s Film Division in a statement. “Once again, the volume and quality of submissions to the festival proves that independent filmmakers are excited to have found a unique new place to showcase their short-form work.”

Award winners, including nods for emerging filmmaker, an audience prize, short and jury prizes will be announced during al event at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival on April 28.
