ARP Nabs Cannes Competition Title "My Joy" For France

On the eve of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, French distribution outfit ARP completed their acquisition of Competition title “My Joy,” represented at the fest by Fortissimo Films. A parable of 21st Century life in Russia, written and directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa, the film stars Olga Shuvalova, Viktor Nemets and Vladimir Ivanov, all of whom will be in Cannes to present the film at its screening on May 19th.

Fortissimo is handling worldwide sales rights outside the Germany and the CIS to the film that promises to be one of the hits of the Festival and market. The deal was brokered by ARP’s Michele and Laurent Petin and Fortissimo’s Executive Vice President, Sales and Acquisitions Nicole Mackey.

On making the announcement Mackey commented “‘My Joy’ is a film of true quality and talent which will be appreciated by both film critics and audiences alike. Always a pleasure to work with, ARP have a reputation for distributing excellent independent projects from around the world. We have quite simply found the perfect home for MY JOY in France with their wonderful team.”
