Today, organizers of the Dubai Film Market announced that over 130 films had secured international distribution deals at the 2009 Dubai International Film Festival. Altogether, the deals are worth more than AED 7.3 million ($2 million USD). Ziad Yaghi, director of the Dubai Film Market, said that the festival “has provided the selected projects an unprecedented global outreach.” More than 210 industry professionals from around the world had access to over 3,352 screenings at the festival.
Among the films involved were “City of Life,” which was sold to Shoreline Entertainment for international distribution everywhere but India and the Arab world; “The Killer Inside Me,” which went to Teleview and Vintage Films; as did Cannes competition title “Burnt by the Sun 2: Exodus.”
The Dubai Film Market was attended by companies such as the Walt Disney Company, Orbit Showtime Network, Shoreline Entertainment, Al Jazeera , HBO, France Television, and NBC Universal.
