Hot French Thesps Join Lafosse's New Film

MK2 has announced that legendary French thesp Gérard Depardieu and breakout newcomer Tahar Rahim (“A Prophet”) have joined Emilie Dequenne (“Rosetta”) for Belgian director Joachim Lafosse’s newest, untitled film. The director’s “Private Lessons” screened in Cannes’ Directors Fortnight in 2008, while his “Private Property” premiered in the 2006 Venice competition. Written by Lafosse in collaboration with “A Prophet”‘s Thomas Bidegain, the new film is inspired by a shocking real life incident in Belgium in which a mother killed her five children before attempting suicide. MK2, which has French distribution rights, is handling international sales for the film. [Basil Tsiokos]
