International distribution rights to Joe Wright’s “Hanna” have been sold to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisition Group, with Focus Features International, the company that produced the film, retaining rights in territories that include North America, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East. The film will finish shooting this month in Europe, and is slated to be released in 2011.
“Hanna” is a thriller starring Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, and Eric Bana about a teenage girl raised by her father to be an assassin. On a mission that leads her across Europe, Hanna is pursued by an intelligence agent even as she discovers startling information that makes her question the very nature of her existence.
