Men In Black III Gets Sony Green Light in 3D

Men In Black III Gets Sony Green Light in 3D

Finally, after Sony’s great success with the first two Men in Black installments in 1997 and 2002 (which grossed over $1 billion worldwide), it’s no surprise that Columbia PIctures is confirming the inevitable go-ahead on the third installment of Men in Black, in 3D, set for release on May 25, 2012.

Producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will return for MIB 3, along with original director Barry Sonnenfeld. The real question is how much will the studio give away on the back-end–and still be able to make some money on this thing? While a deal is set with one of the few major stars any studio can count on these days–Will Smith–negotiations are still in progress with Tommy Lee Jones, and Josh Brolin is in talks to play Jones’ Agent Kay as a younger man. “We love where the story is taking agents Jay and Kay and know this new chapter will deliver a fresh fun twist for fans of the franchise,” states Sony Pictures worldwide marketing and distribution chief Jeff Blake.
