Samuel Goldwyn Films To Release Venice Winner "The Double Hour"

Samuel Goldwyn Films announced today that it will bring Giuseppe Capotondi’s Venice Film Festival award-winning “The Double Hour” (“La Doppia Ora”) to the U.S. in the fall. The film, whose lead actress Ksenia Rappoport won the best actress award at the festival, also played at the Toronto Film Festival. “The Double Hour” documents the relationship of Sonia (Rappoport), a hotel chambermaid and Guido (Filippo Timi), a former policeman, who met each other via a speed-dating service in Turin. The thriller follows the relationship between the two as it crumbles, due to Sonia’s past and a catastrophic event the two must face.

The film will make a brief appearance before its theatrical release at the Lincoln Center’s Open Roads: New Italian Cinema program this June.

“‘The Double Hour’ is an incredibly provocative and satisfying thriller. We think the incredible twists and turns will provide a very rewarding experience for American audiences,” Michael Silberman, Head of Distribution for Samuel Goldwyn said in a prepared statement. Peter Goldwyn, VP of Acquisitions for Samuel Goldwyn Films negotiated the deal with Charlotte Boucon at SND (Groupe M6).
