Open for 40 years, Toronto’s Glad Day Bookstore is having some tough times as of late. The second longest surviving store of its kind, at the current rate of sales, they might not make it past summer. So if you’re a Torontonian who cares about having this independent, community-oriented institution remain a part of your city, PLEASE take a trip down to the store at 598A Yonge Street (and seriously, if you have a queer book you want to buy.. DON’T do so at Chapters or on Amazon). Even just a $6.99 vintage porn mag (a welcome addition to any coffee tape!) would help them… It would be a sorry state if Toronto became a city with no queer bookstore. Or that this important site for activist opposition to homophobic censorship was no longer.
