PPP Submissions Due PPP by June 30. San Sebastian Works in Progress by June 30

Films in Progress, the twice-yearly rendezvous at the San Sebastian and Toulouse Festivals, opens its registration period for Films in Progress 18, to take place in Donostia-San Sebastián on 21 and 22 September 2010. This initiative by the San Sebastian International Film Festival and the Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine in Toulouse focuses on contributing to the completion of Latin American fiction feature films at the post-production stage.

The Films in Progress awards and the diffusion of these projects exclusively reserved for professionals attending the two yearly meetings at San Sebastian and Toulouse have greatly contributed to the completion and diffusion of some of the most outstanding Latin American feature films to have made their appearance in recent years.
Films in Progress 18 is open to feature films produced in the different Latin American countries, the filming of which has been completed but which are having difficulties with the post-production process.

The following awards will be granted at Films in Progress 18:
• The Films in Progress Industry Award, consisting of the post-production of a selected film until achieving an english subtitled 35mm copy.
• The Casa de América Award for Aid to the Post-Production of Latin American Films, carrying €10,000 (gross).

• The films participating in Films in Progress have access to international diffusion on the Instituto Cervantes world network.

PPP begins accepting 2010 submissions
Project market has three former films at Cannes this year

SEOUL – Submissions for 2010 Pusan Promotion Plan, a project market for Pusan International Film Festival, open this week.

Since its inception in 1998, PPP has been an opportunity for filmmakers to meet with investors and producers for partnership and co-productions. Three former PPP projects are invited to the 63rd Festival de Cannes, including Lee Chang-dong’s “Poetry” and Boo Jun Feng’s “Sand Castle.”

Last year, over 200 projects competed for 30 finalist slots, including well-known Asian directors including Pang Ho Cheung and Ekachai Uekrongtham.

Submissions for this year’s PPP are due no later than June 30.
