Same-Sex Kissing, Jamie Bell for Spider-Man? Kutcher's Katalyst, Swank Gets Toothy for Carpenter

Rumors are swarming that Billy Elliot‘s Jamie Bell is Sony’s choice for Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot. The young Brit is already the face of Tintin in Sony’s Spielberg directed/Jackson produced CGI The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, which comes out December 2011. Could Bell really be both Tintin and Spider-Man? Sony PR refuses to comment on such casting speculation.

– Same-sex kissing is the rage. Sandra & Scarlett, Dustin Hoffman & Jason Bateman (EW’s popwatch has a poll running that says theirs was the hottest), and now, Justin Long & Mike White. Their man love is part of the “Make Homosexuals Marry” campaign which aims to keep the fire alive in the Prop 8 debate. The writers of the “Make Homosexuals Marry” video hope that “through humor, a dialogue continues.” Video is below.

– While Ashton Kutcher licks his wounds on his lousy Killers opening, THR reports that Kutcher and Jason Goldberg’s production company Katalyst Media has signed a new deal with Warner Horizon Television to add to their list of unscripted shows, hoping to grow their international presence. Katalyst is behind MTV’s Punk’d and CW’s Beauty and the Geek, as well as ABC’s True Beauty which they developed with Warner Horizon. Among the shows Katalyst has in the works is Numbnuts (three stunt veterans challenge copycatting internet amateurs) and a “Presidential Pledge” reality series in which celebs and regular folk post video pledges of their service to worthy causes). Goldberg says “We’re seeing less and less contrived programming…You’ve got to get viewers to relate to something.”

Horror king John Carpenter is set to direct Fangland. Based on John Marks’ 2008 novel of the same name, the story follows Evangeline Harker (to be played by Hilary Swank), a TV news magazine producer who is sent on assignment to Transylvania. ThePlaylist calls it “a scary twenty-first-century take on the stuff of Dracula, worthy of its rightful place among others.” John Carpenter is returning after nearly a decade away from directing with this summer’s thriller The Ward. @EricDSnider tweeted: “Hilary Swank to star in a movie called FANGLAND. She’s having dental work done so that her teeth will be small enough.”
