This morning I got up irregularly early to stand in line with a good thousand or so folks to (successfully!) get a wristband to Arcade Fire’s “secret show” at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall tonight. They announced the shows (both tonight and tomorrow night) Wednesday afternoon, and anyone interested had to get tickets in person the day of show. First come, first serve.. cash only… no buying for anyone but yourself. Some people who had probably been lined up since 6am got right back in line for the 8pm show after tickets went on sale at noon (I, on the other hand, came home to nap). It’s all a fantastic way to build excitement for their new album, and for the show tonight (I’ve never enjoyed them in such a nice little venue).
