Williamsburg Waterfront

Williamsburg Waterfront

The summer season of Williamsburg Waterfront shows in Brooklyn, began on Sunday evening with a great bill that included Grizzly Bear and Karen Elson opening for headliner Band of Horses. Future shows on the water, will feature Faith No More, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Nas & Damian Marley, Spoon, and Pavement. From Sunday night:

(Karen Elson started off the show. Elson’s debut LP, The Ghost Who Walks, was released a few weeks ago and it’s a surprisingly solid effort. Elson’s also known as the former model who married Jack White, of the White Stripes. While he produced her debut LP, Elson has raw musical talent, which was on display at the Williamsburg gig.)

(The audience, with the Manhattan skyline behind them.)

(Brooklyn’s own Grizzly Bear spent their set focused on material from last year’s album, Vecktimest.)

(Band of Horses hit the stage by 7:30 p.m., just as the sun started to go down. You can see a few savvy folks in the window above the band, who rocked their sound all through the West side of the neighborhood.)
