Michael Caine has revealed to Digital Spy at the Inception premiere (see below) that the new Batman will begin shooting in April. It’s not the first time Caine, who plays Alfred the Butler in the Chris Nolan series, has spilled information about the franchise. A few years ago he said that Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman would be playing The Riddler and the Penguin, respectively. Although those rumors have come and gone, more are taking their place, including Inception star Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the Riddler. Not a bad idea.
Speaking of Batman stars, Gary Oldman may join a new film adaptation of John Le Carre’s classic Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In) is directing a screenplay by Peter Morgan (The Queen). That’s already exciting for the spy author’s fans, but Variety reports that Oldman will be joined by Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth and Michael Fassbender. Looks like the spy-movie planets have aligned on this one.
