I was offline all day (a blissful recent regularity in my schedule), so being on the ball about this morning’s Emmy announcement suffered as a result. But what a lovely surprise to come back to: Sure, there’s definitely ample opportunity to have a bitch session… but let’s focus on the positive: Kyle Chandler AND Connie Britton (finally!), Amy Poehler, the Best Comedy Series nominees, January Jones AND Christina Hendricks (finally!), Chris Cofler, Aaron Paul, Martin Short, EVERY “Modern Family” cast member EXCEPT Ed O’Neill, “Treme” directing nod, “Friday Night Lights” writing nod, and “The Tonight Show WIth Conan O’Brien”‘s best variety series nod. I’d say this is one year that Emmy – who has often got things very wrong and/or very bizarre – generally got things quite right.
