Casting News: DiCaprio in Wolf, Washington in Safe House, Lost's Pellegrino Goes SyFy

Leonardo DiCaprio is teaming with Ridley Scott (not Scorsese, as once planned) for the screen adaptation of Jordon Belfort’s memoir The Wolf of Wall Street, according to Deadline. The screenplay by Sopranos (and Boardwalk Empire) writer Terry Winter follows a head stockbroker (DiCaprio) as he leads his team in coaching clients to purchase stocks that fund their extravagant lives–until they get caught. Scott and DiCaprio are both busy: Scott’s helming 3-D Alien prequel and DiCaprio is prepping a Hoover biopic, so it’s unclear when Wolf will land on their schedules.

Vulture reports that as he mourns the death of his agent, Ed Limato, Denzel Washington is in talks to star in David Guggenheim’s spy triller Safe House; WME CEOs Ari Emmanuel and Patrick Whitesell are handling the deal. Safe House takes place in South America and finds a U.S. intelligence agent forced to go on the run with his latest prisoner (Washington) after his safe house is attacked. Who will co-star as the intelligence agent opposite Washington’s intimidating prisoner?Matt Damon would be an obvious choice, but because Washington lands $20-million paydays for studio flicks, someone less expensive (Damon typically gets $10 million) may have to step up to the plate.

Mark Pellegrino, who can be seen in everything from Lost (Jacob) to Supernatural (Lucifer) to Dexter (not to mention Capote, Mulholland Drive, The Big Lebowski) has landed a lead role in SyFy series Being Human. The series focuses on three roommates (a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost) and Pellegrino will play the role of vampire Aiden’s mentor, Bishop.
