Comic-Con: Guillermo Del Toro Takes on Disney's Haunted Mansion

While we all may still be trying to forget the Eddie Murphy movie version of Disneyland’s The Haunted MansionGuillermo del Toro admits that he will not take his call–Disney has signed on Del Toro to develop a live-action 3-D version of the classic E-ride, which the director insists he has visited faithfully every year, to “relax.” He first took the ride when he was three.

During Disney’s Thursday Comic-Con panel, Del Toro promised an “E-ticket ride” that will scare fans young and old, and plans to bring back the character of the Hat Box Ghost: “He’s one of the scariest creatures and also one of the most whimsical.” Del Toro wants to stay true to the aesthetic of the original ride’s imagineers, he said.
