Comic-Con: Like Inception, Snyder's Sucker Punch Lets the Mind Run Wild

From Inception to Sucker Punch, the mind is the new cinematic landscape, where anything can happen, a realm of infinite possibility, where you can play with logic. What better place for Zack Snyder to go wild?

During the Comic-Con Warner Bros. panel, he threw out Sucker Punch, yet another mind-blowing trailer (the one for Watchmen was also a stunner). But again, this one leaves you wanting more, knowing that the final film will be devilishly hard to pull off. It’s on the jump.

Admittedly audacious, Sucker Punch starts off as Girl Interrupted, with a young woman, Baby Doll (Lisbeth Salander candidate Emily Browning) admitted into a mental hospital. It’s the gateway to another world, like Moulin Rouge. But it turns out to have real-world implications. Her harrowing existence at the asylum is altered by her fantasy environment as she tries to escape. Snyder wrote the original script with his writing partner Steve Shibuya. The movie, which has finished filming, opens March 25. Whatever the final outcome, I applaud Legendary and Warners for taking a shot on something different.
