With this year’s San Diego Comic-Con kicking off tomorrow and potentially over-hyping yet another geek favorite, I’m bringing back last year’s list of past SDCC films that buzzed favorably at the convention center only to fail at the multiplex. Doing so of course draws attention to my own failure of a prediction that “Alice in Wonderland” would disappoint at the box office (I shouldn’t have underestimated the 3D factor). So really only the first nine examples make sense in hindsight. Maybe we can substitute one of the 2010 films in the place of the Tim Burton-directed spectacular? Unfortunately, “Piranha 3D” won’t be shown as originally planned, but maybe “Sucker Punch” or “Green Hornet” can fill the slot?
