Honorary Maverick Award Goes to Bruce Beresford

Woodstock Film Festival (WFF) has awarded the 2010 Honorary Maverick Award to filmmaker Bruce Beresford. Beresford is a two time Academy Award nominated writer and director, whose art focuses on social tensions and political drama. His films include “Breaker Morante,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Double Jeopardy,” and “Evelyn.” Co-founder and director of WFF Meira Blaustein said of the announcement, “Throughout his extensive body of work, Beresford has exhibited unique talent, drawing award winning performances from his actors while subtly creating stories filled with humanity, nuances and discontent. His ability to masterfully bring heart, soul, and social critique to all of his work distinguishes him as a true maverick.”

WFF will take place September 29-October 3, 2010. The festival features over 150 events, including screenings of works by emerging and established directors, as well as panels and concerts.
