More Gems Await in KidFest

Halfway through Enzian’s annual week-long Young Filmmakers Summer Camp and KidFest Film Series (formerly KidFest Peanut Butter Matinees), and perhaps the best is still to come. After wonderful screenings of Harold Lloyd’s classic 1925 silent comedy, THE FRESHMAN (in a luminous 35mm print no less!), and packed houses for 1939’s iconic THE WIZARD OF OZ, we have two more imaginative and thrilling films on tap: THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1974) with its fantastic use of stop-motion “Dynamation” by legendary special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen, and 25th anniversary screenings of one of the best time-travel comedies ever, BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985), with Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover. Adding icing to the cake, word from the Enzian projection booth is that both prints are in excellent shape and should be gorgeous on the big screen! And don’t forget, for the first time ever, KidFest is offering free weekday matinees, meaning that Wednesday and Thursday’s 3:00 screenings of these classic family films will cost you absolutely nothing. Not all of us can take those extended late lunches or leave work mid-day, so Enzian’s taken care of that as well–both BACK TO THE FUTURE and GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD will have encore performances on Saturday, 7/31 (BACK), and Sunday, 8/1 (SINBAD) at 12:30 PM, and admission to the weekend matinees is only $5. You can’t beat that…
