Oprah Network Producing 5 Docs

The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is set to produce five separate original two-hour documentaries with Julia Roberts, Forest Whitaker, Goldie Hawn, Gabriel Byrne and Mariel Hemingway, all as part of OWN’s monthly documentary film club.

“All of these documentaries fundamentally explore human interaction, relationships and emotions,” said Lisa Erspamer, chief creative officer of OWN in a press release. “We’re excited to provide viewers with new perspectives and new ways of looking at core themes that shape and affect their lives.”

The five films are:

“Extraordinary Moms,” presented and executive produced by Julia Roberts.
The film explores the powers of mothers, and the love they have for their children.

“One Last Shot,” narrated and executive produced by Forest Whitaker.
Takes viewers inside a Louisiana maximum security prison at Angola, where the average sentence is more than 90 years.

“Searching for Happiness,” hosted, narrated and executive produced by Goldie Hawn.
Examines the age-old quest for ‘the pursuit of happiness.’

“Tent City,” executive produced by Gabriel Byrne and Leora Rosenberg.
Explores the homelessness in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Seven Suicides,” presented by Mariel Hemingway.
Follows Mariel Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, as she explores the legacy of suicide and depression in her literary family.
