– While the b.o. fate of the movie based on the global bestseller Eat Pray Love won’t be determined until the peripatetic romance opens August 13, in-demand writer-director Ryan Murphy (also Glee‘s co-creator/exec-producer) has won not only Sony’s vote of confidence, but star Julia Roberts is also happy to pair up with him again. Murphy just signed on to write and direct an original romantic comedy for Roberts, reports Deadline. The high concept: working woman loses job, switches roles with stay-at-home husband, and must adjust to newfound motherhood. Brad Pitt’s Plan B will produce with Murphy, as it did with Eat Pray Love. Murphy is also on the shortlist for the film adaptation of the musical Wicked.

– An episode of Public Radio show This American Life is the inspiration for Heretics, based on a true story about rising evangelical star Carlton Pearson, who was labeled a heretic and ostracized by his Church when he preached that there is no Hell.

Behind the project are Endgame Entertainment and This American Life host/writer/producer Ira Glass and his producing partner Alissa Shipp. Marc Forster’s Apparatus is to produce, and Forster may also direct the script by Marcus Hinchey (the upcoming All Good Things with Kirsten Dunst and Ryan Gosling). “At its heart, it’s a classic old-fashioned movie plot,” states Glass. “A man who stands up for what he believes and loses everything because of it.” Look at Carlton Pearson’s story below.

– It has been hard enough to accept that Angelina Jolie is happily unmarried-but-bound-by-offspring-and-love to Brad Pitt (though she “needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle“). Now Penelope Cruz is officially off the market. Congratulations, Javier Bardem. The duo wed in early July in the Bahamas, a spokesperson confirmed.

You can move on with your life by seeing Mozart’s opera The Abduction from the Seraglio at a cinema near you (it starts at the Laemmle in Los Angeles on the 18th).
