“Tibet in Song,” Ngawang Choephel’s documentary feature that won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance will get a multi-city distribution starting September 24, with a run at NYC’s Cinema Village. The film will be distributed by the film’s production company, Guge Productions. “Tibet in Song” follows the director’s own journey to document Tibetan music, a cultural heritage that is threatened by the Chinese occupation of Tibet. In the more than decade-long process of making the film, Choephel was arrested for espionage and was released early with the help of Vice President Gore and a team of celebrities.
