Woodstock Film Festival Names Bob Berney Honorary Trailblazer

This year’s Woodstock Film Festival (WFF) will honor film distribution mogul Bob Berney with it’s Honorary Trailblazer Award. As founder of four of the most important independent distribution companies operating today (Apparition, Picturehouse, Newmarket Films, and IFC,) Berney is a leading figure in the indie business. WFF co-founder Meira Blaustein said of the announcement, “His innovative approach to film marketing and distribution has been admired by many in our industry and his independent and uncompromising spirit make him the epitome of a Trailblazer.”

The 11th annual Woodstock Film Festival will take place September 29-October 3, 2010, including over 150 films, panels, concerts and special events. Maverick awards will be presented for Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short Documentary, Best Short Film, Best Student Film, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Animation. Audience Awards will be presented for Best Feature and Best Documentary.
