Premature But Non-Permanent Return To Bloggery Because of the "Black Swan" Trailer

I’m still going to try and keep away for the next two weeks as my to do list depends on it, but I came home tonight to find the “Black Swan” trailer online and my blogging impulse was too strong to ignore. This is probably the trailer I was waiting for more than anything re: this fall season (though I still greatly anticipate “True Grit,” “The Fighter,” “Rabbit Hole,” and, yes, “The Beaver”), and it does not disappoint. It thankfully makes the film look more “Requiem For A Dream” than “The Wrestler.” And even like the 2010 ballet world remake of “All About Eve” except on acid with lesbian sex I’d been hoping for. And I’d suspect Searchlight has given us only a cautious peak at some intense shit that’s going down in this film. But from what we see, Natalie Portman – a hit et miss actress in my books – looks like she’s really bringing something here, and so does Babs Hershey. As for my beloved Winona… if you even notice, the below screen shot is essentially all we get. Here’s to her scenes just being too crazy and brilliant and dark to be suitable for the trailer.

It’s only 13 days until the film premieres in Venice… But until then, we’ve been given a great late summer tease for what could be a very exciting part of the fall festival circuit:

Anyway… That’s all. I’ll be back in 13 days with some sort of “10 Things I Would Have Blogged About Had I Been Blogging This August”-type deal. It was kind of a shitty month to give up blogging, pop culturally speaking… From the “True Blood” Rolling Stone cover this morning (which almost made me break the ban as well and if you don’t know what I’m talking about google that hot vampire shit right now)… exciting TIFF announcements galore… Steven Slater… Arcade Fire do it again… the Janelle Monae “Cold War” video… Eat Pray Love’s general crapiness… Scott Pilgrim’s general awesomeness… etc. But it had to be done. Be back soon.
