Ridley Scott to Produce YouTube's "Life in a Day" Documenting July 24, 2010

YouTube’s “Life in a Day” project, which invited users to submit documents of happenings across the world on July 24, 2010, closed its submissions earlier this week. The videos, numbering more than 80,000, from 197 countries and in 45 different languages, will be edited into a feature-length film executive produced by Ridley Scott (“Robin Hood,” “Gladiator”) and directed by Kevin Macdonald (“The Last King of Scotland,” “One Day in September”) The final product will premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The film will also be available on YouTube in January 2011.
