There Are No Bedbugs In The Scotiabank Theatre

It’s amazing that one little tweet erupted into some serious hysteria yesterday when it was suggested that someone had attended a screening at Toronto’s Scotiabank Theatre and got bedbug bites. Considering I’d been there the night before, I wasn’t exactly feeling good about the news, and neither was the U.S. film world, which had a story on the tweet up and running on The Hollywood Reporter in a matter of hours… But never fear, us Canadians are resourceful folks, and by today the folks at TIFF and the folks at Cineplex (the company that owns the Scotiabank) had confirmed bedbugs have not made a home in the theatre. I mean, I had thought since I first read it… how did the guy know they were from the Scotiabank? Either way, disaster averted. We can look forward to bite free seats come next week.
