Premieres and Fest Faves on Tap for 17th Austin Film Festival

The Austin Film Festival & Conference unveiled details of its programming lineup today with 60 feature world, U.S., and regional premieres in many genres including drama, comedy, horror, documentary and more on tap for its 17th annual event taking place October 21 – 28. Toronto favorites including Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours,” Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan,” Kelly Reichardt’s “Meek’s Cutoff,” and Richard Levine’s “Every Day” will have their regional debuts at the fest along with a number of world and U.S. premieres.

In all, 170 films and events are on tap this year. David Peoples, screenwriter of “Blade Runner,” “Unforgiven,” “Twelve Monkeys,” will receive this year’s “Distinguished Screenwriter Award” at the annual award luncheon presented at the Austin Club on Saturday, October 23 alongside this year’s “Outstanding Television Writer Award” recipient, David Simon, best known for his role as creator/executive producer/head writer/show runner for HBO’s “The Wire.”
