‘Freak’ Availability

'Freak' Availability

On Wednesday night, Magnolia Pictures and Peggy Siegal hosted an intimate premiere and party for the new omnibus book-to-documentary adaptation, Freakonomics. Guests including actor/comic Richard Belzer, actor/director Bob Balaban, and members of the Freaknomonics creative team (directors Rachel Grady, Morgan Spurlock, Eugene Jarecki, co-author Stephen J. Dubner), mingled at Michael’s after the screening.

Of course, like many films these days, Freakonomics had its official coming-out party several weeks after its real release to the public. The film opened in theaters this weekend, in limited release, and will roll out to more theaters through the end of the month. As of September 3, though, you’ve had the chance to rent Freakonomics via your cable Movies On Demand channel. You can also rent a copy off Amazon VOD, Playstation, XBox, Vudu, and (as a first for the Magnolia Ultra VOD program) off iTunes:

Freaknomoics has been a very popular title on these services, ranking in the overall Top 10 in some cases. So, even if the film does not make much money at the box office, you can be sure it’s finding a solid crowd on VOD.
