Homegrown Hawaiian Film Festival Audience Winners

Chuck Mitsui’s “One Kine Day,” and Listte Marie Flanary’s “One Voice” both topped the Hawaii International Film Festival 2010 Audience Awards, nabbing the favorite narrative and favorite documentary gongs respectively. In the short film category Ruben Carrilo was awarded the prize for “Mana I Ka Leo Power of the Voice.” All three films are Hawaiian made.

“The status of Hawaii-made films continues to rise,” said Anderson Le, HIFF’s Director of Programming in a statement. “It is unprecedented that locally made films has swept all three audience awards and shows that homegrown cinema can compete against its national and international counterparts.”

The Hawaiian International Film Festival wrapped on October 24.
