Digital distribution company FilmBuff has announced a partnership with the team behind MTV’s new horror film production, “Savage County,” for a full-scale digital release through the month of October. The film will world premiere October 7th on MTV2, at 11 p.m. EST/10 p.m. CST.
Directed by David Harris, the film is the story of a reclusive family of murderers seeking vengeance on a group of young mischief makers after an innocent prank turns deadly. Immediately following the world television premiere, the film will be released on digital platforms such as Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, iTunes, Amazon VOD, and many more. The film will be available in both the broadcast version as well as a “director’s cut.” In addition, FilmBuff will release Savage County on DVD, in early 2011.
“We are very excited to partner with MTV and the Savage County team on this digital roll-out,” said Matt Dentler, head of programming for FilmBuff, in a statement. “They’ve made an energetic and terrifying film through some innovative means. We feel an innovative release strategy is precisely what it needs.”
“We’ve utilized a broad range of traditional and non traditional media and marketing efforts to help this help find its audience,” said David Gale, Executive VP of New Media for MTV, in a statement. “Partnering with FilmBuff will only extend the film’s reach and make it a true multi-screen experience.”
