Trouble On The Set Of ‘The Hangover 2’? Zach Galifianakis In “Deep Protest”

Trouble On The Set Of 'The Hangover 2'? Zach Galifianakis In "Deep Protest"

.It looks like all is not cheery on the set of the highly anticipated sequel to “The Hangover.” With the reunited cast of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Ken Jeong currently in front of cameras on the film that is due in theaters in about seven months, there appears to be some trouble on the set.

During a Comedy Death-Ray podcast this past month, Galifianakis told host Scott Aukerman about his decision process in choosing films and that he turns down some projects based on “moral grounds.” But, he went on to add, that sometimes you’re caught in a situation where production is underway and you have no choice but to go with the flow, before revealing that he was in “deep protest” on a film he’s currently working on, and without saying “The Hangover 2” directly, he pretty much pointed his comments in the direction of that film.

“But a movie you’re acting in, you don’t have a lot of control — you just show up and vomit your lines out. I’m not the boss. I’m in a deep protest right now with a movie I’m working on, up in arms about something. But I can’t get the guys to [listen] … I’m not making any leeway,” he said. Galifianakis later added after some prodding by Aukerman, “It has something to do with a movie I’m working on, yeah. I’ll tell you about it later. It’s very frustrating.”

So what could it be? Well, we don’t think it’s too much to suggest that Galifianakis might have a problem with Mel Gibson preparing for a cameo in the film as a form of career rehabilitation. Unlike Tom Cruise who repaired his couch-jumping-crazy image by appearing as Les Grossman in “Tropic Thunder,” Gibson’s misogynist, sexist, racist, homophobic views and comments perhaps need a little more repentance than getting a pass in a big, Hollywood comedy. So what do we suggest? Get Gibson on “Between Two Ferns” Zach, and let him have it. [Vulture]
