We never really find out the cause or origin of the avian attacks in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” so while we’ve previously gotten a sequel and are still expecting a remake of the horror classic, it makes more sense to have a prequel. Not that I’m saying we need or want one, just that it would seem to be more logical. Fortunately, the people at NYSU Films have created at least a humorous trailer for one. The title is “The Eggs” and it plays on the idea of origin. Where did the feathered fiends come from? Eggs, of course.
But then can we have another prequel to the prequel showing that before the egg came other birds? This would work better if there were any crazed chickens in the Hitchcock film, I guess. Check out the (year-old, but new to us) video after the jump.
I wonder if this is what Ridley Scott’s “Alien” prequel should look like. We never see any chest-bursting babies or queens or anything. Just the alien eggs. Likewise someone should make a “Critters” prequel that focuses just on the Crites’ eggs — though the Easter scenes in “Critters 2” do give us plenty of that.
