2011 Student Academy Awards Competition Announces Deadlines

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is now accepting entries for the 2011 Student Academy Awards competition. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, will be awarded along with cash prizes to U.S. student filmmakers in three categories: Alternative, Animation, and Narrative and Documentary.

In addition, this year the Academy will honor up to three foreign films with medals, as opposed to previous years when the Academy recognized student filmmakers from aboard with a single Honorary Foreign Film Award.

Both the U.S. and foreign film competitions are open to full-time college and university students whose films are made within the curricular structure of a film program or class. Foreign film schools must be members of the International Film Organization known as CILECT.

U.S. entries are due April 1, 2001, while foreign film submissions must be sent in by March 25, 2011.

The 38th Annual Student Academy Awards presentation will be held at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills on June 11, 2011.
