In just five days, my favourite Swede Robyn will complete what at one point I wondered was even possible: the “Body Talk” trilogy. At the beginning of this year, the singer announced that in addition to some rather extensive touring, she would release THREE albums over the course of 2010, each one part of the “Body Talk” trilogy. It began in April, and now next week it will come to a close with the third and final album (as well as a singular album “Body Talk” which features 15 of the best songs from the three).
I had wondered if she would be able to do it – and more importantly, if she would be able to do it well. Her previous self-titled album is one of my pop music faves of the past decade, and I would have rathered her focus on one great album then three subpar ones. But in the end, even if one of the three fulfilled that fear to a degree (“Part 2” felt a little filler-y), Robyn has given pop music enthusiasts some consistent excitement over the course of 2010. With the third part leaked online, I’ve gotten a chance to really take a listen to the scope of what Robyn has pulled off, which is a body of music with a remarkable range of genre, and a couple genuine classics to boot. So I figured in anticipation of the final album’s release, I’d count down my top 10 “Body Talk” tracks, in three parts, of course…
10. None of Dem, from Body Talk, Part 1
#9-#7 after the jump.
9. Cry When You Get Older from Body Talk, Part 1
8. U Should Know Better from Body Talk, Part 2
7. Get Myself Together from Body Talk, Part 3
