Women in Film Picks Finishing Fund Recipients

Women in Film Picks Finishing Fund Recipients

For the 25th year, the Women in Film Foundation has selected grant recipients for its Film Finishing Fund.

WIFF chose from a record 140 grant applications from 11 countries (U.S., New Zealand, England, Spain, Finland, Philippines, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Canada and Australia). And for the first time, Film Finishing Fund awarded grants to three narrative as well as three documentary features. Netflix donated the cash grants of $50,000 as well as consulting with the winners on marketing and distribution.

The WIFF FFF provided crucial financing for such films as HBO’s Woman Rebel, 2008 Oscar-winning documentary short Freeheld, and Freida Lee Mock’s 1994 Oscar-winning documentary Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision.

This year’s Film Finishing Fund winners are:

Narrative features:  Karin Chien’s Circumstance, Susan Youssef’s  Habibi Rasak Kharban, and Frances Lausell’s  America.
Documentary features: Lisa Gossels‘s  My So-Called Enemy, Yoav Potash’s Crime After Crime, and Nisha Ligon’s Twiga Stars: Tanzania’s Soccer Sister Narrative short: Melissa Dodds’   Whakatiki.
