Tomislav Božović & Dado Džihan Contributing Music To Angelina Jolie's Directorial Debut

Forgive us as our Croatian is non-existent and Google Translate isn’t much help, but according to the Serbian edition of Hello!, Angelina Jolie has started putting together the music for her upcoming directorial debut and just as she did with the talent in front of camera, she is sticking to people from the region to assist in the off-camera work as well.

Tomislav Božović (also in the band The Congo Faith Healers) and Dado Džihan (formerly a member of Emir Kusturica‘s No Smoking Orchestra) have teamed up and recorded a few songs for Jolie’s forthcoming film. Needless to say, the duo are thrilled to have their music featured in the film. No word yet on what it will sound like, but given the oeuvre both musicians play within, we think it will likely be reflective of traditional music from the area.

While its birth hasn’t been without its share of controversies, Angelina Jolie continues to soldier on with her directorial debut, a currently untitled romantic drama set during the Bosnian War that follows a love story between a Muslim woman and a Serbian man. As you might expect, the film has generated a lot of attention in the region given the subject matter and speculation about particular plot details which may or may not be true.

The mostly European cast features Zana Marjanović (”Snow”) in the lead role, Rade Šerbedžija (”Snatch”) and Goran Kostic (”Taken”) with Brad Pitt apparently in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it turn as an extra in one of the scenes. No word yet on any release dates but we think it’s a likely candidate to turn up at Cannes.
