Banksy's Oscar Reaction: "Last Time There Was A Naked Man Covered in Gold Paint in My House Was Me"

Rookie filmmaker Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop, now nominated for best documentary feature Oscar, is causing the ever-elusive street artist to reconsider the concept of awards. “This is a big surprise,” he states of the nomination. “I don’t agree with the concept of award ceremonies, but I’m prepared to make an exception for the ones I’m nominated for. The last time there was a naked man covered in gold paint in my house, it was me.”

Banksy first showed Exit Through the Gift Shop at Sundance a year ago; he attended the festival, and left behind evidence of his visit with by supplying the town of Park City with a piece of art that is still on display on Main Street (right). Will he show up for the Oscars if he wins? He sent a strange silent man to the Critics’ Choice Awards to accept if he won (non-Oscar nominee Waiting for Superman took the honors that night). One guy is trying to sell Banksy’s identity on eBay.
