Three plus years in the making and tonight’s the tonight when the world (well enough of the world that’s attending Sundance and can fit into the Egyptian Theatre) will finally get to Corman’s World. Thanks to snow fears I changed my flight and arrived last night, and found myself wondering why I never though to fly in on Thursday. After a quick stop at the indieWIRE condo for some beer and chili, I took off up the hill to meet the whole Corman filmmaking team enjoying post dinner drinks at a brand new restaurant on Main St. It was a great way to (sorta) slowly ease into the festival before all the insanity started. Then we headed over to the big opening party at the Legacy Lodge, where we mingled with filmmakers as unnaturally tall, unnaturally energetic women in long white coats handed us wave after wave of empty Stella glasses. We could either fill the glass with beer or carry it around in a nifty little black bag. Most people, though, left theirs sitting around the lodge. Today will be filled with team meetings for both Corman’s World and Silver Tongues, which has its red carpet at Slamdance during the opening night events.
More quick sporadic blogging to come!
