Donostia San Sebastian Film Festival's New Director Takes Office

José Luis Rebordinos, the new Director of San Sebastian Film Festival

From HaciendoCine, the trade paper from Argentina, comes this introduction to the new director of the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Although it is public knowledge that José Luis Rebordinos has replaced Mikel Olaciregui as Director of Donostia, the San Sebastian Film Festival, yesterday he officially took office.

Rebordinos has worked 21 years in Donostia Culture and 15 in the steering committee of the festival. In his first interview as director of the festival he told the Spanish newspaper El Correo that it had never crossed his mind to exercise his position but that when the former director Mikel Olaciregui wanted to go, he proposed taking his position.

He also talked about some changes in the management structure, “There will now be an Assistant Manager, Olaciregui Lucia, who has been my right hand in Donostia Kultura and who asked me to accept this challenge. A third person in the Directorate will be Amaia Elizondo who was hired last year as financial controller and who will now be chief financial officer. An addition to the steering committee, besidesthe three of us, will be José Ángel Herrero-Velarde, our voice of experience, and Joxean Fernández, the new director of the Basque Film Library, whom I have known for years as director of Festival of Nantes.”

Rebordinos said there are plans to make changes to the festival but it will retain its identity. “But at the same time it will reexamine everything.”
