Last night at midnight, CORMANS WORLD kicked off its world premiere with raucous cheers of “Cor-Man! Cor-Man!” filling the Egyptian Theater. The crowd, a mix of everyone from fanboys to locals to industry to one woman who had acted in over thirty New World Pictures and just barely made it in off the wait list, wore T-shirts that read “University of Corman” and “I’m With Corman.” After a quick, fun introduction by Sundance Director of Programming Trevor Goth, the film’s director Alex Stapleton took the stage brimming with confident, nervous energy. She thanked Roger and Julie and the rest of the team. Then stepped aside for the main event. The lights went down, the screen brightened, and for all of us, the other filmmakers, friends and family, who had worked tirelessly on this film for years, it was a moment of pure joy. Congrats to all!
