Rapper Drake In Talks To Join Nicholas Jarecki's 'Arbitrage'; Al Pacino No Longer Attached

Update: Reps for the film have told us that Al Pacino is no longer attached to “Arbitrage.” No word yet on who will be taking over his role, but stay tuned….

Another rapper venturing into the world of acting…

Up-and-comer Drake is in talks to join Nicholas Jarecki‘s indie-financial-industry drama “Arbitrage” which is set to star the illustrious trio of Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon and Eva Green. No word what role Jarecki has installed for the rapper but it has been reported Pacino’s lead does face a number of antagonists so it may be one of them. The story, of course, follows a hedge fund magnate who is in over his head and desperate to complete the sale of his shady trading empire to a major bank before his fraud is revealed, while also juggling romances with his wife (Sarandon) and art dealer mistress (Green).

Unlike some of his counterparts, Drake is actually starting with some acting experience, as he was featured on Canadian teen series “Degrassi: The Next Generation” (as Aubrey Graham) as well as a small role in Anton Yelchin-starrer “Charlie Bartlett” — but this would no doubt be his biggest challenge to date. Director Jarecki, brother of fellow helmers Andrew (“Capturing The Friedsman“) and Eugene (“Why We Fight“), is writing and directing the tale whose title references the “practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices.” Yawn.

Production is set to begin this March in New York.
