Ron Livingston Joins ‘Ten Year’ and ‘The Odd Life Of Timothy Green’

Ron Livingston Joins 'Ten Year' and 'The Odd Life Of Timothy Green'

Max Minghella Also In ‘Ten Year’ Ensemble

Why isn’t Ron Livingston a bigger name? Having delivered a slew of scene-stealing performances since “Swingers” (our personal favorite: Charlie Kaufman‘s obscene agent in “Adaptation“), the actor has been a near-constant presence on screens big and small, but somehow never made the step-up to Paul Rudd-style leading roles, despite being the lynchpin of the cult comedy “Office Space.” Hell, even Nikki Finke seems to like him, and she hates everything.

The actor, last seen in “Going The Distance,” has a role in the Lizzy Caplan vehicle “Queens of Country” coming up, and he’s just booked a pair of gigs which, while they’re unlikely to break him out beyond the best friend/ex-boyfriend roles he’s generally stuck in, should at least keep him steadily employed for the next little while. The Wrap reports that Livingston has joined the cast of “The Odd Life Of Timothy Green,” the upcoming dramedy from “Dan In Real Life” director Peter Hedges, which toplines Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton.

The two stars play a childless couple who ‘bury their wishes for a baby in a box in their backyard.’ Soon, a child appears, but he’s not what he appears to be. There’s no word on Livingston’s role yet, but like we said, we imagine it’s some kind of best friend/confidant role. Filming kicks off soon for a release later in the year.

The site also reveals that Livingston has joined the cast of the Channing Tatum ensemble drama “Ten Year,” a “Big Chill” style picture about a ten-year high school reunion. Tatum’s producing the picture, which also features his wife, “Step Up” star Jenna Dewan, and a relatively impressive line-up including Brian Geraghty, Rosario Dawson, Anthony Mackie, Kate Mara, Justin Long, Scott Porter, Lynn Collins, Chris Pratt and Oscar Isaac, although not, as previously reported, Chris Pine or Anna Faris. Livingston will play the husband of Rosario Dawson‘s character.

The Social Network” star Max Minghella, who recently joined George Clooney‘s “The Ides Of March,” has also signed on to the project, which is directed by first-timer Jamie Linden. A short film version of the project hit the net a few months back, featuring several of the eventual cast members, and proved to be pretty much insufferable — but with a cast as intriguing as this one, we’ll reserve judgment for now. Filming is underway in New Mexico, and we imagine that a Sundance 2012 debut wouldn’t be out of the question.
