SAG Awards: Hamm, Kidman, Renner Join List of Presenters, Auction Items, Throw Your Own Party

On January 30, the Screen Actors Guild will host their 17th annual awards show with the help of presenters Jason Bateman, Jon Hamm, Nicole Kidman, Jeremy Renner, Sofia Vergara and Robin Wright. They will join previously announced presenters Scott Bakula, Alec Baldwin, Jeff Bridges, Tim Conway, Rosario Dawson, Josh Duhamel, Angie Harmon, Eva Longoria, Cory Monteith, Amy Poehler, Hilary Swank, Betty White and SAG President Ken Howard. The SAG Award nominees are here. Experts predict the SAG winners.

Tim Conway will be presenting his friend and colleague Ernest Borgnine (RED, The Wild Bunch, The Dirty Dozen) with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his career and humanitarian efforts. Borgnine joins fellow recipients Betty White, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, Elizabeth Taylor, among many. Conway and Borgnine starred together in the 1960’s WW II sitcom McHale’s Navy; both have done voiceover work on SpongeBob SquarePants (Barnacle Boy and Mermaid Man, respectively).

NextMovie recommends throwing your own SAG party with these DVD rentals. Why wait? They’re available now:

▪ “Winter’s Bone” didn’t get much press when it came out last year, but it’s getting plenty of it now thanks to the star turn by Leading Role nominee Jennifer Lawrence.
▪ “The Town” featured a number of memorable performances but it’s Jeremy Renner who earned the nod in the supporting actor category.
▪ “The Kids Are All Right” star Annette Bening (who previously won for “American beauty”) is the woman to beat in the Leading Role category.
▪ “The Social Network” had so many good roles it’s too hard to narrow it down to just one — which is why it was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.

From January 27-31, the SAG Awards will auction off a number of items to benefit the SAG Foundation. The Foundation’s efforts include: BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), Storyline Online, as well as programs providing emergency relief to SAG members in economic distress, video and audio preservation of the creative legacy of SAG members, scholarships for performers and their children, emergency funds for members with catastrophic illnesses and The Actor’s Center. The auction items include a Black Swan jewelry box signed by Natalie Portman, The Fighter collectibles, a Rabbit Hole comic book signed by Nicole Kidman, and lots more.
