Silver Tongues wins audience prize for Best Narrative Film

On Thursday night in the main screening room of Treasure Mountain Inn, Silver Tongues took home the Audience Sparky Award for Best Narrative Film at the 2011 Slamdance Film Festival. The director Simon Arthur and our publicist Sylvia Desrochers sat next to me as I live tweeted the event when all of a sudden we heard the title “Silver Tongues” fill the auditorium. Simon and I looked at each in utter disbelief. Did our dark film about a couple that adopts different personalities to manipulate and toy with the people they encounter just win an audience award!? Yes, yes it did. And so we made our way up to collect the award, Simon beaming (well as much as Simon can beam), me still in some sort of state of thrilling shock. Simon spoke first and then handed me the microphone and for one of the few times in my life I stumbled over words, not quite sure what to say and who to thank. Well thank you everyone who made this film possible, everyone who came to our screenings, everyone at Slamdance, everyone who has talked up the movie, and, really, everyone I know.
