At the Lift Conference in Geneva recently, a group of participants collaborated in a workshop to “come up with the Digital Media Delivery Manifesto. A text that will most likely start with the following sentence: ‘I promise that I will not pirate video content if I’m offered a legal alternative that is: …'” The result is DontMakeMeSteal.com. The site allows people to sign the manifesto, which outlines the multiple areas of improvement needed to keep pirates from illegally seeking video content. These areas include Pricing, Languages, Convenience, Choice & Release Dates, and Rights. All of these are crucial to preventing piracy in all parts of the globe, so the whole endeavor is smart and I applaud the team who created it.
