"Social Network," "Inception" Take Writer's Guild Honors

“The Social Network” and “Inception” were among the big winners at the 2011 Writers Guild Awards, which were handed out tonight at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.

The winners come after the likes of Oscar nominees “The King’s Speech,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Toy Story 3,” and “Another Year” all had their scripts disqualified due to the WGA’s controversial rules, which cuts out scripts that don’t follow the guild’s complicated “Minimum Basic Agreement, or the agreements of several affiliated international guilds.”

The complete list of winners in the film categories are below.

Original Screenplay
Written by Christopher Nolan; Warner Bros.

Adapted Screenplay
The Social Network
Screenplay by Aaron Sorkin; Based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich; Sony Pictures
